Beth Kanell

Beth Kanell lives in Vermont, with a mountain behind her and a river at her feet. She loves stories of all kinds.
One of Beth's favorite things about writing is the way the stories become real inside her mind. She actually remembers what Molly and Henry and Katy in The Darkness Under the Water were doing, saying, feeling, even the way they were walking! She can even smell supper in the oven at the house of Shawna Lee, the heroine in her latest novel The Secret Room.
Beth's writing space is a small room upstairs in her house where she lines the walls with sheets of brown paper to draw and write on as she plans each book. Her family includes two grown sons and a very nice husband who reminds her of someone in a story she just wrote... If this is a sunny day, she's up early, maybe walking in the woods. If it's raining, you can bet she's got the kettle on for tea, and is baking muffins before settling down to write.
Beth has also written three books of adventure travel, two books of local history, and a collection of poems called Mud Season at the Castle - all under an earlier name. But that's another story.
